Hello guys . . . . . . .

       In this time, let me introduce my self,

I am a new English Teacher in your class. Iam Fitri Hariyani, S.Pd. I came from Yogyakarta. I live in Metro Street, Debong Lor, Tegal. My hobby are reading books and going out with my family. The most favorite day is sunday, because that day I can be free to do what I please.

Normally I spend my days off in the mall, bookstore, and also at the beaches.

I think enough about me.

OFFERING AND SUGGESTION 

A. Offering 

It is used to offer something to someone 

Expressions for Offering 

When you want to offer something to others you can use the following expression: ∙ May I ..... 

∙ Can I .... 

∙ Shall I .... 

∙ Would you .... 

∙ How about I.... 

∙ What can I ... 

Responding to offer 

Receiving offer Declining offer 

Yes, please. I really appreciate it It’s okey, I can do it myself Thank you, it is very kind of you Don’t worry, I will do it myself Of course No, thanks 

I’d like it very much Thank you for your kindness, but I can do  myself 

I appreciate that I’m afraid I can’t. Thanks anyway 

Example: 

X : Would you like me to help you bringing your suitcase? 

Y : Yes, Please. I really appreciate it 

X : Can I help you to do your assignment? 

Y : It’s okey. I can do it myself. 

X : Shall I get you something to eat? 

Y : Many thanks 

B. Suggestion 

It is used for giving advice to make someone better next time 

Expression/gambits: 

When making suggestion we often use the following expressions : 

∙ Let’s ............ 

∙ Why don’t we .... 

∙ We could ..... 

∙ What about ....... 

∙ How about .... 

∙ I suggest that ..... 

∙ You might want to change ..... 

∙ I think .... 

∙ I don’t think .... 

Some expressions to ask suggestion: 

∙ Do you have any suggestion for my problem? 

∙ Any idea? 

∙ Please tell me what should I do 

∙ Where do you think I can get something nice?

Responding to suggestion 

Receiving Declining  

Sure, I’ll do that I guess not 

All right I don’t think so 

That’s good idea I tried that, but it didn’t work I think you’re right Thanks, but that won’t help because... I appreciate that That’s good idea, but.... Yes, I suppose I should 

Examples: 

X : I haven’t finish my homework. Please tell me what should I do Y : You should finish it soon. Let me help you to do that. 

X : I appreciate that. Thanks
